Oki and welcome to the Lee-Yaw lab at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada!

We study the ecology and evolution of species' distributions. Much of our work seeks to understand how historical colonization events have structured species' ranges, the influence of climate and species interactions on range limits, and genetic constraints on adaptation at the edge of the range. A second avenue of research in the lab focuses on the outcome of hybridization between genetically distinct groups and the consequences for adaptation and range limits. We use variety of tools to tackle these questions including GIS data and spatial analyses, genomic data, experiments, and synthesis work.
Land Acknowledgement: The University of Lethbridge and Lee-Yaw Lab are located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing and caring for this special region of the world.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Science benefits from people with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. The Lee-Yaw lab is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and positive lab environment. We strive to:
  • celebrate our differences and use them to foster creativity and improve our science;
  • provide a safe and inclusive space for each member of our group regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, background, ethnicity, physical or mental difference;
